Euro 2020: Spain Reach Quarter-Finals with Pulsating Extra-Time Win Over Croatia

Spain sealed their place in the quarter-finals of Euro 2020 with a pulsating extra-time victory over Croatia.

Alvaro Morata and Mikel Oyarzabal scored the goals that proved decisive in a 3-1 triumph as Croatia's tournament hopes were extinguished.

The match came to life in extra-time after the sides had played out a tense and goalless 90 minutes. Morata broke the deadlock in the 100th minute, heading home from Dani Olmo's cross.

Croatia responded well and equalized through substitute Mislav Oršić in the 117th minute. However, Spain had the final word as Oyarzabal volleyed home from Pablo Sarabia's cross in the final minute of extra-time.

Spain will now face Switzerland in the quarter-finals on Friday, July 2. Croatia, meanwhile, will return home after a disappointing end to their Euro 2020 campaign.
