Germán Márquez: A Rising Star in the Colorado Rockies Organization

Early Life and Career

Germán Andrés Márquez was born on February 22, 1995, in San Félix, Venezuela. He began playing baseball at a young age and quickly rose through the ranks. In 2011, he signed with the Colorado Rockies as an international free agent.

Márquez spent the next several years developing in the Rockies' minor league system. He made his professional debut in 2013 and quickly impressed with his pitching ability.

Major League Debut

Márquez made his Major League debut with the Rockies on September 8, 2016, at the age of 21. He pitched five innings, allowing one run on three hits. He earned his first Major League win in his next start, against the San Diego Padres.

Continued Success

Márquez has continued to be a valuable member of the Rockies' rotation. In 2017, he finished with a 11-7 record and a 4.39 ERA. He also struck out 159 batters in 171 innings.

Márquez has continued to improve in 2018. He is currently 10-7 with a 4.20 ERA. He has also struck out 162 batters in 162 innings.

Pitching Style

Márquez is a right-handed pitcher with a four-pitch arsenal. His fastball sits in the mid-90s, and he also throws a changeup, a slider, and a curveball.

Márquez is known for his excellent command of his pitches. He is able to throw strikes with all of his offerings, and he rarely walks batters.

Future Outlook

Márquez is one of the most promising young pitchers in baseball. He is still only 23 years old, and he has already shown the ability to be a dominant pitcher at the Major League level.

The Rockies are hoping that Márquez can continue to develop and become a key part of their rotation for years to come.
